Local volunteers head to El Paso to drop off donations for migrant children

On
Monday, a group of local volunteers is heading to El Paso, Texas with a caraban of six to severn vans, trucks and SUVs.
They're taking truckloads of donations for immigrant children waiting to
be reunited with their families.
One of the trip organizers said her living room was filled with donations.
"It started with friends and family and then their friends and family
and then we'll make this post public on Facebook and then we made a
flyer and all of a sudden, I had people contacting me from out of town
like 'Hey, how can I help you?'" said organizer Sara Saucedo.
Her group in Albuquerque is teaming up with the Las Americanas Immigrant Advocacy Center in El Paso. They are helping bring goods to the migrant sanctuary Annunciation House, also in El Paso, for migrant children waiting to be reunited with their families.
"The kids don't have anything and a lot of them don't know where their folks are," she said.
She said the goal is to send every child out with an outfit and a new pair of shoes and they've been collecting items for about two weeks. Saucedo said it's important to her and the rest of the volunteers that the children at that center have something to start with. They've seen an overwhelming show of generosity from the community.
"If you have the resources, if you have the time, if you have the availability, you should do something," she said. KOBTV7 - Albuquerque, NM
