Los Griegos Dia event for Summer Reading!

Just want to thank the Los Griegos Library for hosting their Dia de Los Ninos Storytelling event on 4/28/22. The kids in attendance were thoughtful, imaginative, and sometimes downright hilarious. In fact we ended the session by telling each other our favorite jokes. Here's just a bit of papier mache art that enhanced Thursday's program (made in house for an earlier Summer Reading Program). Meet me new friends,,, Lion and Mouse.
See you all down the trail.

What's Día? ¿Qué es Dia?

El día de los niños, El día de los libros/Children's Day, Book Day
April 30th & every day of the year
!

Día means "day" in Spanish. In 1996, Santa Fe author and Día founder, Pat Mora learned about the Mexican tradition of celebrating April 30th as El día del niño, the day of the child. New Mexico author Pat Mora thought, "We have Mother's Day and Father's Day. Yes! We need kids' day too, but I want to connect all children with bookjoy, the pleasure of reading."
