Women's History Day & Navajo Star Wars Intergalactic Night & The Pandemia Chronicles

The NHCC is pleased to invite you to attend some of the exciting events we have coming up in March. In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8th, the NHCC Foundation is hosting a luncheon featuring a meet and greet with Maria Hinojosa. Tickets are available through the Foundation. At 6:00 pm the NHCC will host a free reception and booksigning with Maria Hinojosa followed by her keynote speech, Latinos in the Media. The NHCC Art Museum’s current exhibition, Fronteras del Futuro, closes on March 12th and we are finishing with a cosmic lineup of events. On Thursday, March 9th, join us for a performance and interactive art installation on the Plaza Mayor with Fronteras del Futuro artist, Angel Cabrales. Teoquiyaoatl (Sacred Portal): Performance and Installation begins at 8:00 pm on the Plaza Mayor, and the Art Museum is open until 7:30 pm. On Friday, March 10th, we are hosting a Navajo Star Wars Intergalactic Night. From 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, there will be art activities and music. The Art Museum is open till 6:00 pm and Manny Wheeler will give a pre-film talk about the importance of cultural representation and the preservation of the Navajo language, followed by the screening of the official dub of Star Wars: A New Hope in Navajo at 7:00 pm. We are pleased to present The Pandemia Chronicles: A Divination Ritual on Saturday, March 11th at 6:30 pm, a performance by Guillermo Gomez Peña. This event is held in partnership with the University of New Mexico’s Latinx Visions: Speculative Worlds in Latinx Art, Literature, and Performance conference.
